Alonissos Marine Park
Alonissos is the perfect place from which to head for the National Marine Park, where one may encounter the protected species Monachus Monachus which lives in the caves of the island within the Park.
More than 60 beaches adorn Skiathos, the homeland of Alexandros Papadiamantis, the renowned Greek writer.
Skiathos is only 2.4 miles from the coast of southern Pilion and 4 miles from Skopelos.
The island of Alonissos has long since been a land rich in flora and fauna. Skeletons of rhinoceros, ponies and deers have been found on Cape Kokkinokastro, while a sunken ancient city around the islet of Vrachos provides irrefutable proof of the island’s great history.
